Kali Linux Install Continues To Fail During Install the System

Have been messing around with Kali Linux 2.0 x86_64 install in VirtualBox for a few hours now, trying to get it to install.

Whether I'm trying to install via GUI or CLI, I continue to get:

Code:
An installation step failed. You can try to run the failing item again from the menu, or skip it and chose something else. The failing step is: Install the system.
I'm able to bootup the live disk via VirutalBox and use it, so the ISO is good.

I started out with 20 GB and increased to 30 GB, because maybe I didn't have enough space? I'm also throwing 2 GB of RAM and 2.5 swap at it. Not using LVM during the initial install. So I'm not sure where it is going wrong.

Also I noticed during the CLI install the install logs can get thrown to a web server, however I can try this later. Will this help in troubleshooting?

So, I'm wondering what others have to successfully install Kali to a VM.

thanks

Did you install from an ISO? Did you customize the partitions or a vanilla install?

I suppose I can grab the VirtualBox Image and try that next time...

That is not a reliable test if the .iso is "good".
Check the md5sum of the iso against a published value and try again.

Downloading now for a Vbox install.

Why? Not sure, but I am gonna check the md5sum and see if it's Vbox or PIBCAK error.

Stand by for an update....

as easy as debian 7 and 8 or fedora
easier really seeing as it is a live image

http://archive.linux.duke.edu/kalili...-2.0-amd64.iso
ef192433017c5d99a156eaef51fd389d /home/jj/Downloads/ISOs/kali-linux-2.0-amd64.iso

installs just like every other OS I've installed.
The graphics has an issue, I think as on the reboots, I get only a black screen.

The SHA1 of the ISO matches what they have on their webpage for 64-bit

Just for the hell of it, I tried again to install the latest Kali to a VM. Did the GUI install, however manual partitions.

Got the same error as above.

This time I tried to view the install-report.template from /usr/share/save-logs by executing a shell. This gave no real information and shows [ ] as didn't try.

There is an option to save the debug logs either via a floppy, web or mount. I tried the web and it has an IP address of 10.0.2.15, however I can ping that address from another VM (CentOS6), however I can't ssh into that address to try and grab the logs off...

As this point, I have a VM of Kali running, except it doesn't have manual partitions. I'm just wondering why it didn't work in case I have to setup another Kali VM in the future. Also I'm going to grab one of their VMs and see how it goes.
