just looking for eyecandy..

just a question, nothing serious really... i've seen a bunch of linux screenshots where they have a terminal open, and the terminal is opaque, where you can see the terminal, and still see the desktop wallpaper through it... how can i get mine to do that too? its cool!!

opaque means you *can't* see though it... you mean transparent!

most X terminals support transparency these days. I'd guess you're using gnoem or kde and their default terminals, in which case t's just a configuration option accessible through the menus. at a lower level, you can use Esetroot to set a bakground image then other terminals like rxvt or Eterm can then be transparent too.

here's my aterm, er, 'code':

Code:
aterm -bl -sh 70 -tr -fg white -bg black +sb -color4 white -color12 yellow
No border, very transparent - to move you need to hold down the ALT key

What window manger are you using? I find the best way to save your configuration is to edit the menu entry for the terminal
