Is Pardus Linux dead....
Well, from what I have been reading it looks like there will be no Pardus Linux 2010. This somehow makes me sad. I installed this disto for my brother who does not even understand winduhs and he was supremely impressed with Pardus. For me personally their package manager - pisi was a wonder since I live in a place where internet is expensive.
I would be very happy if someone assures me otherwise.
As I understand it, the Turkish government felt that it was a waste of money paying civil servants to create a distro when they could download one for free. The brief account of the conference Pardus held this year suggests that it may evolve into a community distro.

Yes that is what I understood. They are not saying openly what their intentions are. But Pardus as a distro did come up with a lot of things new and innovative. It would be sad to see the death of one orignal distro.

Well, I think I am right. Pardus is dead or dying.
Read some mails from the devls and they are all off Pardus.
Even distrowatch has pardus on the 'dormant' section.
Time to say goodbye to one of the most revolutionary distros since a long time I think.
It is sad. I only tried it recently, when it was too late, only because it was so well regarded. I liked it very much. I would have kept using it. Perhaps the former development personnel of the institute will do something new.

From the looks of it seems like the devls are really saddened too and they have been assigned to some other tasks. The creator of pisi (the most single most amazing piece of sofware) sounded almost heartbroken.
I do not think it could be forked. Perhaps someone who has the talent and wants to make another Ubuntu-like distro (rolls eyes) should consider this a golden opportunity that is out there just for taking.
All the hard work is done IMHO. Even if someone stepped up to mantain that distro I believe that it will knock the crap out of ubuntu. But then again this is the real world and things may or may not work according to our licking.
