Is it good idea to have EFI partition mounted as /boot ?
Hi all.
I'm going to perform fresh debian testing installation on uefi system. I want to have separate /boot, because it is probably the only way to format core filesystem with btrfs.
Some people claim it is good idea to merge /boot into efi partition.
Is it really a good idea? What are pros and cons? And what size should it have?

FAT partitions have nothing going for them - except spineless software developers/committees sometimes demand it.

I use a separate ext4 /boot and have used btrfs since well before I got a UEFI machine. I see no pro in putting anything more than I have to in a FAT partition.
Agree, use a separate /boot with ext2/3/4 make it large enough to hold a few kernels and initrds and grub; you can mount your fat EFI partition on it if you want.
I use the EFI partition on my laptop (with Arch running on BTRFS using the Gummiboot bootloader) as /boot and didn't have a single problem with that setup. So I would think that it comes down to personal taste if you do that or not, especially as I can not see a technical reason that speaks against that.
