Inverse Match in VIM

Hi,

Can anyone help me out with searching for non-matching patterns in vim?
I tried out a method which was listed on the web.

Since i wanted to go to the next line in vim which does not contain the term "Fixed",i did the following :
^\(Fixed\)\@!

However, this does not seem to work. It keeps matching with every line as far as i can tell.

Cheers
Anoosh

If i try it without the "^" at the beginning, vim keeps jumping to the very next letter.
\(Fixed\)\@!
