Daniela,

Also, are you grabbing IP via dhcp or is it static? If you have it grabbing via dhcp, have you tried setting it staticly?

i thought exactly the same...because of dhcp, my resolv.conf is being overwritten as i read in another thread...my changes were useless. but i prefered to stay via dhcp, so i added PEERDNS=no to my ifcfg-eth0 and as far as i can see it works

thanks a lot for your help!

Man, still having trouble with this!! This is rediculous. I did find some more info on the router. PRIMARY DNS Server 1 = 0.0.0.0
SECONDARY DNS SERVER = 0.0.0.0

Someone told me the ip addresses for road runners dns servers. I put them in my resolv.conf file, but no luck. Right now I have "Configure DNS information automatically" checked in the network configuration GUI, and my resolv.conf file gets overwritten with this info:

search sc.rr.com
nameserver 192.168.0.1

so I guess the router is communicating with it, but for some reason I cant get any name resolution. Ping hotmail.com doesnt work...dig and nslookup doesnt work...wtf??

thanks guys,

mikell
