Exclamation internet connection

Hello, i am trying to solve the problem since SuSE 7.0, now i am running SuSE 7.1.
My problem is: when i am trying to connect through linux to the internet ( followed my provider instructions exactly & my modem is perfect detected) i get a dial up signal, it dials, it connects and after 10sec the connection is terminated saying that the moden hung up.

Also, NETSCAPE says that it cannot find the server and that it needs to be configured. i have tryed SuSE but my problem isnt solved.

Is there anyone outthere that can help me????????

I'm not sure about the modem hanging up, but the Netscape program sounds like your DNS settings are either incorrect or not there. What do you have in /etc/resolv.conf? That where your ISP's DNS server should be listed. You should be able to get the IP address from your ISP's tech support line or web page if you have another method of connecting that works.

I had this problem quite some time ago so I don't remember the excact details of how to fix it but, your trying to connect to your ISP through a SLIP connection instead of PPP. Like I said I don't remember excactly what you have to change to fix it since I haven't even used linux for a while. If you can't figure it out either try to do it manually (if you're using a script right now) or find a script already made (if you're already doing it manually). Hope this helps.
