??? instead of clear words

hi all
am trying to contribute in translating one of the Linux MSN Messengers ... the main lang is english and i would like to contribute in translating it into arabic for arabic users to use it ..

there is one file to that contains the variable and the word it means besids each variable.

what i have to do it to just delete the english word and write the arabic word instead of it. this is done very fine.

i did this of course using kword .. since i can't write arabic using vi or emacs..

the problem is that when i run the program after replacing the file .. it shows that " ???? " instead of the arabic word .. lets say i translated the word File .. it will show "???" instead ..

what is the problem?
do i need to configure something in my box or what?

help is appreciated ..
thanks

you're going to have to ask the MSN messenger people to support your arabic font.

I think we are just talking about the text in the application - rather than the text typed by the user into the screen.. So I'm thinking that you'll just need to install the arabic character set onto your system, or have you already done this? You would probably have been promted to select which languages you want to install when you first installed the box.

It should work when you have added the new set - in-shah allah

good luck

Have you asked the chat program team about this? And you didn't save using the KWord format or anything right? (you will have to keep it as text).

Otherwise the program may not fully support unicode, but you'd have to ask them
