Installing real player

Hi all,

I'm trying to install real player. I downloaded the .bin file.
chmod a+x RealPlayer10GOLD.bin
./RealPlayer10GOLD.bin

But, I got an error though- ./RealPlayer10GOLD.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Am I doing it right?

fais

This is just a thought, I seem to remember having to set my SELinux policy to allow sharing libraries. Maybe you have to do that?

do you have gcc installed? try 'gcc --version' what output do you get?
what distro are you using?

if you dont have gcc installed look in your "package manager" for gcc. if you dont know what your package manager is, check the documentation for your distribution of linux.

can you post the output of 'ldd RealPlayer10GOLD.bin'
and 'find / -name libstdc*', you may need to run this as root.

I think gcc 4.x installs libstdc++.so.6. I had the same problems. I tried linking libstdc++.so.5 to libstdc++.so.6 but it didn't work. Problem was fixed by installing an older version of gcc. I think i used gcc-3.4. This shouldn't be a problem if your distro allows different versions of gcc to coexist.

when I do "ldd RealPlayer10GOLD.bin" I get:

linux-gate.so.1 => (0x0097f000)
libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x0097f000)
libstdc++.so.5 => not found
libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x00959000)
libgcc_s.so.1 => /lib/libgcc_s.so.1( (0x00df4000)
libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x0080f000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x0080f000)

and when I do find / -name libstdc* (as root) I get:
/usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6
/usr/lib/gcc/i386-redhat-linux/4.0.0/libstdc++.a
/usr/lib/gcc/i386-redhat-linux/4.0.0/libstdc++.so
/usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6.0.4
/usr/include/boost/config/stdlib/libstdcpp3.hpp
/usr/share/doc/libstdc++-devel-4.0.0
find: WARNING: Hard link count is wrong for /proc: this may be a bug in your filesystem driver. Automatically turning on find's -noleaf option. Earlier results may have failed to include directories that should have been searched.
