Installing JAva runtime environment

I recently successfully installed the j2re package...and now it stopped working, i have no idea why.

now if i try to uninstall the rpm file using rpm -e [filename] it says package not installed
but if i try to install it, it says package installed.

whats going on?

Hey - not not strictly a fix, but you could do an rpm" force" i.e force rpm to re-install, and it will ignore the fact it's already installed. I've done this many a time with good success.

use the rpm --force switch.
