Unhappy Installation problem with perl

Im trying since days to install Suse 8.1 without windowmanager on an old AMD k2 450.

I have tryed to use my own bought version 8.0 always with an installation error on perl.

I have then downloaded the boot version of 8.1 and installed over ftp. Same problem there.

Does anyone know what the problem can be??

Well I have installed in graphical mode, and theres been no errormessage its only telling me theres an installation problem during installing perl.

I have now also tried to install Debian and Redhat, they have also failed. I have tested the cds with linux mediumtest (or what its called) and they should have no faults. I have changed the cdrom, the harddrive, ram and removed all other cards and still theres problems..

I have no idea.. Could it have anything to do with that my proc is old. Thats the only explanation I can find.

Try doing the normal installation without perl and then install perl after the installation is complete.

As for your processor being too old, it's old, but it should work.

Probably. If you are still using SuSE, then you can let yast do the installation. I'm not too familar with the others.
