i want to do the following: plz help


for example i have pc with ip 192.168.0.1 i want with this ip connect to 10.10.10.10 as 192.168.0.2, and for all other one as 192.168.0.1. how can i do it?
linux 2.4.17 rh 7.1

what kind of connection are you trying to achieve?? just regular http?? and you can only connect with the ip address your computer is on unless you go through a server that resides on the other ip. So I guess the first thing you need is two machines each on one of these ip's. Unless you want to change your local ip each time you connect to that particular one, which would take some time to reconnect every time you wanted to change local ip's I believe. But I've never tried it. It should be a good project for you.

You could assign two ip addresses to one nic. Give it 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2. You'd use aliasing for that. eth0:0 would be the first and eth0:1 would be the second.
Then you would have to modify your routing table to let connections to 10.10.10.10 go through 192.168.0.2 and the rest to go through 192.168.0.1
