I need the default RH 9 .configure file bad.
As you can see from my sig, I am addicted to kernel recompiling. Well, by failing to backup the original .configure file before recompiling like 8 times, I no longer have the default .configure file. Can anyone tell me where I could get the file, either on the RH disks or online. I just hate having to select every option every time I recompile. A buddy told me I could modify the original and just add/switch the options I want. Is this true and where can I get the default file?
Yes, you can start with that... Then, slice out the hardware you know you don't have. It will be in the kernel package... kernel-2.4.version.architecture.rpm .

Thanks! That will save me a fortune in time. This time, my custom laptop kernel will include compact flash support and the native Radeon drivers. Mooohahahahahaha...
Another thing you can do is you cd /usr/src/linux-xx/configs, in here you will find all the default .config files used by Red Hat, choose the one that matches your PC and then cp redhat-*i686.config (not sure on the name since I am at work and they run windows) /usr/src/linux-xx/.config now you will have all the defaults. Happy Compiling
