i have a big troublev--" no such partition"

hi,i am in trouble, hope to get any key from someone....

i have two hard disks, hda and hdb,I install red hat linux 9.0 with windows xp on hdb ,red hat has boot partition (hdb3) and a swap partiton .

I put GRUB on /dev/hdb3 ,first sector of boot partition, and set hdb3 to active partition, reboot, but I get a error message --
22: (hd1,2),no such partition.

I think everything of installtion is fine, but I can't explain that all...

first,I wanna boot double OS by windows boot loader, but can't boot linux,so that,I modify hdb3 to active partition, unfortunately, can't too

because hda is added to my system after I installed windows xp,so windows and linux exist hdb

events sequence:

install windows xp on hdb (only one hd) --->get another hd (hda)------>install red hat linux 9 on hdb----->can't boot linux

because I have put many metrial on my hda,so I don't wanna reinstall linux on hda

you just need to install the bootloader to mbr on hda

configure it to boot windows from hdb1 and linux from hdb3

or just swap the drives and set it up like that

How did you install Windows on hdb? hdb is the primary slave disk, I don't think it'll work without a primary master disk. Was hdb actually hda when you installed Windows?
