I am getting shrinked display on my HP laptop display panel

I am having HP 6910p model laptop.
The configuration is
2.4core2duo,
2GB ram,
Display panel of 14.1' widescreen(width-350 & height 190)
Intel 965GM/960GL chipset,
Intel 4965AG wifi card.
I am using windows-7 & RHEL4.5 as dual boot.
In windows i am getting a clear display, whereas in Linux the display is shrinked by 150mm on both left & right sides.
I am not able to use my wifi in Linux, whereas in windows it is working fine.

Can anyone give the solution for this issue.

as for the black border on the display, editing the resolution (often in /etc/X11/xorg.conf would help
http://brneurosci.org/linuxsetup92.html might help for configuring widescreens with linux
as for the wifi the answer depends on what kind of card you have
try posting the output of lspci -v (lspci -v > file.txt then open the contents of file.txt in *name your text editor* and paste the contents in code tags)

Also, sometimes you can press a key combination to make it full screen (BIOS handled).

The command SaX2 is not working in RHEL4.5(Nahant Update 5). But i used the same setting by manually editing in /etc/X11/xorg.conf and after rebooting i am getting the following error also not able to open the GUI mode of linux.

The error is:
X Window system version 6.8.2
Release Date:9 feb 2005
X Protocol version 11, revision 0, release 6.8.2
Build Operating System:Linux 2.6.9-42.0.8 ELsmp i686 [ELF]
Current Operating System:Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.9-55.EL #1 fri
Build date:19 april 2007
Build Host:hs20-bc1-6.build.redhat.com
Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.X.org
to make sure tat u have the latest version
Module Loader present
OS Kernel:Linux version 2.6.9-55.EL (brewbuilder@ls 20-bc2-14.build.redh)
Parse error on line 113 of section modeline in file /etc/X11/xorg.conf "ModeLine" is not a valid section name.

Even after copying back the old xorg.conf file i am not able to get back the graphical window screen.
Provide me with other steps to get back the graphical window and also to solve the black patch on the display panel of my laptop.

Try to get it running using the framebuffer method.

What happens when you run slax (live linux from www.slax.org)?
