How to install X-Windows on a remote server

Hi People

I have recently set up a root linux server (redhat 9) allowing access via a remote SSH client login.

What I am trying to do is install X-Windows so that I can run the VNC service and connect remotely to a graphical GUI via VNC as opposed to just shell based.

What I am asking is how difficult is that and any tips on where to start

Cheers

Mark

Well, if you have remote access already, just scp or ftp the packages you need and compile them remotely. Shouldn't be a problem setting up as ssh is just like as if you were at the machine. If it has outside net access, you could even just wget the files from an ftp server, etc to start the install.

Cheers.
