Do you mean the numeric id? Or the textual username? Regardless, either can be modified by editing the /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow files.
If you're editing the numeric id, you will have to chown on all files belonging the old id to the new id or you may find yourself unable to access some of your own stuff.
