how to change partition for swap

hi,
I have a big /home partition ( /dev/hda5 ) followed by swap (/dev/hda6), I reduce the
size of /home and create a new so hda5 is /home, hda6 is /another and hda7 is
a swap.
I correct the file /etc/fstab
problem: the swap is not find, the data in /home is corrupted.

I format /home, now I want to rerun the swap
Is there a procedure or tool does what I did badly.

Did you format the partition for swap? Take a look at the "mkswp" command. You will need to issue a swapon command afterwards. There is more info in:
man mkswp
