How to better design a database


Hi I am not a dba but I will use mysql for some web application, my question is there some best practice on designing a database.

Changing a database half way of the application is usually a hard task so I want to learn more about how to better design a database before starting the actual app logico (programming).

My advise: Use indexes and use them wisely. In a large database, they can be the difference between living or crashing....
