How to add the parameters "set LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19"


How to add the parameters "set LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19" to my linux?
I'm installing a application.
The document of this application tell me to do this action: "set LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19"
I don't know how to do?
I'm a beginner of the linux. Would you pls give me the anwer with the detail procedures.

type it in the terminal and press ENTER.
thats all that is asking you to do ..
