Have downloaded the linux version of Netscape and have all the files.Nothing else happened soooooo...what now? How do I "execute" it?
As you can tell, am a noob who may overlooking something obvious!
Yes, I have Firefox but I have been told it has problems with Flash. Also, one should be able to install and make linux programs
work generally, right? Soooo the question remains...
this is not a flash issue since the 8.0.4 hardy the system changed and ubuntu decided to build there own stuff and rearrange the the system . I got real tired of getting all the /etc/addon what ever links to work. not there fault just mine for not understanding how they link it with xulruner and other apps. but any way I just down loaded the flash bionary from adobe. flashplayer extradcted it and put it in my /usr/lib/firefox/plugins and have had no problems.
this is not a fix after awhile I began to learn the firefox about:config and the new systems.
To best all this I use Opera 99 percent of the time and I just put all my plugins in /use/lib/mozilla. this will get it to work.
now we have to understand why the big change for Ubuntu. this was to make it a one click addon from the firefox browser. does it work. sure but does it fail sure..

the key word being "generally"... will it work, probably. Will you likely still have problems and errors? Almost definitely.
What flash problems are you describing w/ FF? I have no probs at all w/ flash and FF3.
did not AOL finally kill off netscape and announce ( about a year or two ago ) that it was no longer being supported and for all AOL customers to install firefox .
ps i have more flash and java problems with mozilla seamonkey 1.1.14 than i do with firefox 3 .0.6
