How to acess NTFS/FAT files from Linux Redhat 9?

I want to read some ebooks as well as share some movies (through ftp) which are stored in windows' partitions (D,E, ...)
How could I do that? Thanks in advance.

I think RH9 should mount these partitions automagically for you. See what /etc/fstab contains. There you can see the mount points for the windows partitions. Look for lines containing "ntfs", "fat" and "vfat". They might be mounted as /windows or under /mnt or something like that.

What you would need to do is create a directory under /mnt and then edit your /etc/fstab file

just do a

cd /mnt
mkdir win_c

This would create a directory named win_c. Now you need to edit your /etc/fstab file. Just do

less /etc/fstab

This would only display the contents of the file but won't let you modify them. My fstab looks like this

LABEL=/ / ext3 defaults 1 1
none /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
none /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
/dev/hda6 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom udf,iso9660 noauto,owner,kudzu,ro 0 0
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto noauto,owner,kudzu 0 0
/dev/hda1 /mnt/c vfat defaults 0 0
/dev/hda5 /mnt/d vfat defaults 0 0
/dev/hda9 /mnt/e vfat defaults 0 0

The entries in bold I had to add myself to make my fat partitions to work.

There are obvious spaces between different columns, which are not being rendered correctly, but, you will understand when you see your /etc/fstab file.

Hi Lala,
Thanks to you, I managed to access those partitions.
Then I have another questions: Is there anyway I can write to those partitions? My purpose is to back-up the files I used in Linux.

Edited: Opps, I forgot to change to root mode, no wonder.
