And then you have to think... "When was the last time this system has been patched?" Granted, not every patch requires a reboot, but some of them definitely do (especially those kernel patches). I hope that people aren't sacrificing security or system integrity for a cool uptime.
Yeah Linux is power, not as winbloze
I remeber I couldn't even leave win to stay alone for 30 minutes ( it began to works so slowly.......ugh)
But Linux can stay as long as I want an everything is OK
that is it
My Gkrellm meter says right now 89:04 hours and counting!!, does this mean my personal computer has been on for longer than the LQ server??, woa! how coool!!! or rather that website should make a better display of the days the systems have been up and running for!!!!!!!!!, , ,
Actually it only records specific websites sometimes. If you read the docs on the site, it says that it will "probe" a site once it's requested, then when it's requested again (if it's in a reasonable amount of time) it will show uptimes. If the site is constantly asked for, it will go in their "always probed" pile.
So it's not necessarily accurate about LQ maybe.
As for me, the longest uptime I ever had was 10 days, I went on vacation
cool man...the longest for me is maybe....err 2 weeks...and when I came back my computer was like overworked...not Linux but the physical components of the computer....like the metal was beginning to melt, heheheh, NOT good! (this was on my old computer dual 600mhz)
