How do you make it so that the CDRom/Floppy Icons don't appear on the desktop?

Hi,

I am facing this problem in LindowsOS.

How do you make it so that the CDRom/Floppy Icons don't appear on the desktop? I only want them in My

Computer.

I dragged them into My Computer and selected Move Here, but after a reboot, they reappeared on the desktop.

I've also then deleted them from the desktop, and shreded them from the desktop, but always after a reboot

they reappear.

Finally, I selected to Save the Session from Session Manager in Control Panel, but again after a reboot

they reappeared, and in addition, Save the Session was unchecked after a reboot.

It must be possible cause not all distros have them on the desktop.

Thx for the help!

pls...suggest what we can do..

Right Click Desktop > Configure Desktop > Behaviour > Untick Display devices OR untick any specific devices you do not want to see.

OK, so right-click on the desktop background and choose "Configure Desktop..."

Choose "behaviour" in the list of items on the left, and you should see a section entitled "Devices." Uncheck all the things you don't want to see on your desktop, and Robert should be your mother's brother.

Oh, even better: further up in the same options screen, there is an option "Enable icons on desktop." If you want no icons at all, easier to just uncheck this.

Hi,

Thanks for quick reply,

Ok i will try. but i just want to confirm is it only for lower version of LindowsOs (3.0,4.0.x) or also for 4.5.x.

Could you please tell me with which version it worked?

Also, in which version have you checked? so i'll also do it with same one.

Thanks,

I don't know about which version of Lindows OS (I use Mandrake y'see), but the relevant question should be: which version of KDE? I use KDE 3.1 (it says so on the left hand side of the kicker menu).
