how can I display the hidden notes in a MIDI file?

While converting my MIDI collection to OGG with
Code:
timidity -Ov
, I watched the terminal displaying notes written by the author of each file (if they left any notes), such as song lyrics and author's name. If I wanted to read the notes in a less messy display, is there any way I could display these notes to read at my leisure, preferably one file at a time? They are not accessible any other way I know of.

Maybe tee would allow you to capture them to a file.
(See man tee)
