usually if you do a search on google or yahoo for your make/model monitor something will come up giving you the specs.

yah, video cards are a bit easier, but to get the excact specifics its best to take your video card out, write down all the chip names and model numbers and do a search, same with things like modems and sound cards. This is especially true if you have something more lowball like an S3 Trident video card because they seem to make lots of different model's of them.

You know what though (I don't feel like having to press delete a lot), there is another way to get your video card spec's but you gotta be quick. When you boot up your computer, the very first screen you see before the bios POST is your video card bios, if you just write down that information and do a search you should find somethin.

Sorry if this post don't make much sense, but my brain is just fried today

I don't get anything like a video bios the first thing I see when I boot my computer is a screen that says Compaq. And thats it.

Well hope I'm not troubling many of you

only thing i can suggest is press esc when you see the compaq screen, that will usually get rid of the COMPAQ picture and show you whats really going on. If that doesn't work, theres a way to completly disable the compaq screen, though i don't remember how (i think someone posted it somewhere on the boards you might wanna check). Otherwise your just gonna have to take the hardware out and check that way
