Unhappy Hi I have some trouble with my Modem!!! can anyone please help???

Hi everybody... =)

OK My Mother has just installed Linux SuSE 10. onto the Desktop - I'm Currently on another Desktop on the same LAN... =| - anyway here's the problem...

We have a Modem called Web Star and it's compatible with Win XP and you get Technical Support with it being through Windows and all...

anyway here's the problem...

We've just found out that basically because where not using Windows anymore we'll have to configure the Modem to work ourselves... and neither myself nor my Mother have a Scooby how to do that... =[ ... can someone please help us with this if you could???

I'd be very Grateful for any help that anyone could give!!!

Thanks a lot...

Reven

The modem might not support linux in that case you will need to purchase another modem.

Now, you need to search for a driver or install instructions via the net. Sorry, have not onstalled a modem regarding linux in quite sometime.

Try this link.

www.google.com/linux

Or

The Suse forums.

How are you connecting to this modem? Googling tells me WebStar modems are cable modems, so you should be able to connect via Ethernet, which should be easy to set up (of course, you'll need a network card).
