It's just one of the best websites out there today, especially the forums.
Even if I don't have a question, if I ever need to just chill out from life's stresses, this is the spot on the web to do it.
Everyone on here is real, social, peers enjoying debates civilly, and just genuine. LQ's formatting and layout and color schemes of the site are just right. Very inviting in itself.
So thanks to Jeremy and his staff and all the fellow Linux users. Wow. Linux is my home on the web.
Thanks for letting me ramble. But really I hope people sit back and realize how awesome, unique, rare and invaluable Linux is in our world. And never take such things for granted.
It is, for sure! I mean Ubuntu has good forums (for their distro specifics) but this site is all encompassing. I mean it has everything. I love the big Slackware "S" insignia or the "Ubuntu" symbols next to people's profile briefs. Also, there is reputations it the users here actually take the time to give credit where credit is due. Good stuff.
I don't post much here, more of a lurker, but I've benefitted quite a bit from these forums and the folks that actively post here. Cheers to all of you who make this a great place for Linux users to share ideas and learn!

This site has been a life saver for me. I have know about Linux for sometime now starting back in about 2004 with my Server OS class that was using RedHat at the time but due to my teacher not being very good at teaching, he knew his stuff, just wasn't good at teaching others. I got discouraged and didn't due much with Linux for almost 2 years. I then repeated the class with another teacher after Novell had accuried Suse and released their brand. Long story short, school I was going to put the screws to me and I ran out of funds for school.
It has only been in the past year, year and a half, that I started picking up with Linux again, due to trying to build a webserver with the same specs as my paid host. Just so I could build my site off-line before publishing it to a live server.
I guess it has been about 6 months now, but I have boycotted Microsoft due to all the major security issues, sloppy code, and the fact the no anti-virus works anymore. The anti-virus issue spans back to 2006, when that Annonymus group, stole the code for what use to be the best Anti-virus (in my opinion) Symantec. It was late last year when Symantec came clean, after all sorts of damages has already been done.
It's been a hard road for me but I am determend to learn Linux just as fluent as I know Windows.
Again I'm thankful for this site as it has been the best tool for me with learning.

I too completely boycott Microsoft. Not just for the virus/security issues, but they are greedy and monopolistic (still). In fact I am really hoping that Windows 8 might lead them on a downward spiral towards imminent demise. Based on reviews of the Windows 8 beta it's looking very possible.
