Help with the following; Installing themes, Installing Mp3 support, .deb packages

I am currently using Ubuntu but I can't figure out how to use themes. I downloaded a theme from some popular website but it said "invalid" format when I tried to add it in the themes manager. How do I create my own themes?

Ubuntu also seems to have no support for mp3s out of the box... how I do install Mp3 support?

Also, how am I meant to install .deb packages?

This page shows you how to install support for mp3s, WMAs, and more:

Code:
sudo dpkg -i <package>.deb
However, if you know the name of the package you can just use
Code:
sudo aptitude install <package>
and it will download and install it for you, including all dependencies. If you don't know the name of the package, you can search for it with
Code:
sudo apt-cache search <searchquery>

I also need help using WINE; I get this error message when I try to configure it -

drael@Teletraan8:~/wine/wine-0.9.26$ ./configure
checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnulibc1
checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnulibc1
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes
checking for gcc... gcc
checking for C compiler default output file name...
configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables
See `config.log' for more details.

Wine tools are set up though it did run into some problems.. I'm not sure what to do. I actually originally downloaded the wrong version of Wine, then installed and extracted the new version in that directory...
