However I´m sure someone is using the system with linux. I already got the driver for the PCI card (Specs. for the Sky2PC card here ) but the problem is the software that the Satellite system uses to login (SatDirect) cannot be emulated by wine.
I´m not expecting someone to tell me how to program a new application to login I just want to know if any of you guys is using the same ISP or if you know someone that does.
Actually, I'm working with a Linux box as Internet Gateway, using also an asymetrical one-way satellite service. But, in my case, it is NOT Isat Platform, but Nebulink. I'm working with the same type of pci card that you, a B2C2 Sky2PC card, with the drivers for linux. It works OK. But, I'm pretty sure there is a SatDirect (or Tqrecv) client specially for linux, so, you don't have to emulate it via wine. I don't know where to get it, but I'm sure it exists.
In fact, I'm going to work with Linux and IsatPlatform in the next days, so, I hope we can keep in conversation to interchange ideas.
Let me kow if you find that client for linux, please.
I've been trying to find this client for linux with no success. Now ISAT changed they client (SatDirect) for the new client SatDirect Plus. It's very different form the first one. Now it creates a virtual network connection called "Main Data Hybrid Net" and this is the one that supposed to be the "internet connection" actually in windows this is the one you have to share. I'm starting to do some research about this new app to try to get it working with linux. Let me know if you get something about this, I'm really interested on it.
I didn't know that Isat had changed the login client (SatDirect). But I remember that I had a satdirect for linux, and I executed it aparently correctly. Unfortunately, now I can't try anything, since I have no account with Isat, but I'm going to get one. I will try to find again that satdirect version for linux, and if I get it, I will tell it to you.
I hope it to be still possible to work under linux with that satdirect.
