Gnome Icons

Has anyone come across disappearing icons from the desktop before in Gnome? I have rebooted into KDE and the desktop icons are all there but on booting into Gnome they are not. I have checked the desktop in a terminal window and they appear to be there. It is almost as though they are hidden. Any ideas, anyone, please?

Try restarting Nautilus:

killall nautilus

Make sure it's set to manage the desktop also

Checked Services and Nautilus wasn't running. Reinstalled Nautilus as trying to run in didn't work. After reinstalling I clicked on Start Menu and Home Folder and my icons returned. All sorted now, thanks for your help.

Nautilus won't appear under services, it's just another program running in the background. The "killall nautilus" was a command you can type in. Good to hear it's sorted though
