GNOME 2.8 and Network browsing
I don't know if there's an answer for this somewhere or not, but I didn't find one in a search.
I'm in the process of rebuilding my Gentoo laptop and want to see if I can fix this before I have a problem. I had gentoo on it before using GNOME 2.8 and was constantly having issues with browsing the Network Servers for workgroups and shares. Installing gnome-vfs-extras helped some in that the shares would show up, but everytime I would double click on them I would get an error saying something like 'This is of type 'folder'' and it won't let me continue.
2 hours ago I had Suse 9.2 professional on this same laptop. A week ago I had Sun's Java linux workstation 2.0 on it. Both of these distributions I can browse out, double click on the server, it comes up with a dialog asking for username, password, domain, then it continues on and lets me in. But for some reason I can't get this same functionality with GNOME 2.8 running on Gentoo.
if anyone has any suggestions/solutions I would be very grateful. This works on Kde 3.3, but I'd rather run GNOME.
Regards,
Aric
