im using slackware 8.1 now, and i cant find a way to get webmin onto the computer

i connected to an ftp and downloaded the webmin rpm but it isn't working, i need the tar.gz, which i can't find on an ftp

i setup an ftp on another computer at home, but it wouldnt connect for some reason.

Try converting that RPM into a tar.gz by using this command:

rpm2targz

Hasn't failed me yet when I've used it.

as for your rodent ...

look at /etc/X11/XF86config,
search for mouse, and check what type is in
that file.... If it says PS2, but you have a MS
compatible Wheelmouse, change that to IMPS2

Cheers,
Tink

Be sure you would want to change your gpm in the console as well, if you've activated your mouse to function in the console that is.

I know if you have PS2 loading up for gpm, then it can cause problems if you selected any other type of mouse for X for some unknown reason.

You would want to edit your /etc/rc.d/rc.gpm to match also what you edit in your XF86Config..

and about the rpm's, i can get the tar.gz version, but i need one that is on an ftp somewhere, cause the only way i have been able to access anything on the outside is thru FTP

thats why i want the mouse working so i can get webmin from a browser in X
