Hello there,
I am using RH72 and want to support NTFS which by default is not supported on my kernel. I have upgraded my kernel to 2.4.9-34 and that too doesnt support NTFS by default.
So I have been trying to recompile my kernel but have beenvery unfortunate that I have succeded in doing that. I am always getting some segmentation fault while doing make bzImage at different functions, e.g. recently I am getting following error message .
gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -Wno-trigraphs -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -fno-strict-aliasing -fno-common -pipe -mpreferred-stack-boundary=2 -march=i686 -DKBUILD_BASENAME=sysctl -c -o sysctl.o sysctl.c
sysctl.c: In function `do_rw_proc':
sysctl.c:703: Internal error: Segmentation fault.
Please submit a full bug report.
See <URL:
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/> for instructions.
make[2]: *** [sysctl.o] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux/kernel'
make[1]: *** [first_rule] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux/kernel'
make: *** [_dir_kernel] Error 2
Earlier I had been getting similar segmentation fault message on another function, I made a report to bugzilla and they wrote back its not kernel fault and is gcc segfaulting. No other hints yet.
Can someone help me to realize my first ever kernel recompile ?
PS: I am using following Gcc compilers :
libgcc-3.1-0.22
gcc-2.96-98
Thanks !
