Free Software Foundation needs money?

Hi all,

I this isn't /. but I've never posted anything there so I'm gonna do so here.... I don't know about the legalities of this so if there's a problem, I'm hoping the moserators will help me out.

Anyway, I just read an article in the NY Times that's entitled "Free Software, at Least to a Certain Point" Which can be found here: http://www.nytimes.com/2002/09/23/te...gy/23LINU.html

It was a benefit dinner and at the end, the author says, a hat was passed around and they ended up with $6,000.

Hmmm, I've probably never been into one but for a benefit dinner in Manhattan... and for an organization like the FSF...

Sounds like small change doesn't it?

p.s. just posting a link that's all...

i don't think they want you to pay up or anything... they probably just want your e-mail in their database [to track you down when they need to , lol]

I suppose that trickykid (like me) don't like to sign in when it's not a must (authentication etc). For reading stories it isn't...

Yeah cause all they are getting is bogus info anyways I am sure from many who sign up just to read articles. But it doesn't bother me that much, I just think its rediculous in some aspects. But most of my first post was just being sarcastic, since it was about FSF needing money, then me saying that the NYT to read was a ripoff just to signup but was free.
