in windows i can hit ctrl+tab and move between the tabs i have open in Firefox, when i do that in KDE under linux it just changes the desktop that i am on. how can i swap tabs in firefox when im in linux?
From Firefox help file:
While it's easy to select tabs with a mouse, you can also cycle through tabs using the keyboard: use Ctrl+PageUp (or Ctrl+Tab) and Ctrl+PageDown (or Ctrl+Shift+Tab). You can also select the first tab by pressing CtrlCmdAltOpt+1, and so on up to the 9th tab with CtrlCmdAltOpt+9.
i will try the ctrl+PageUp when i get to the school and get my hands on my linux box again. i know for a fact that ctrl+tab does not work in linux as that is the default option for changing your desktop from 1-4 depending on how many times you hit ctrl+tab.

No, actually, that's not a fact. That's nothing to do with Linux, that's the window manager
I switch desktops with Ctrl-Alt-Arrow keys, and ctrl-tab works fine in firefox. . .

yes that is in linux, windows does not have KDE nor does it have Gnome. in KDE if you ctrl+tab you will change desktops, not change tabs in the firefox browser.

btw, thank you the ctrl+page/up/down work great.
Actually, it's very easy to change the settings for switching desktops (and leaving Ctrl+Tab to Firefox). Click K Menu>Settings>Control Center>Keyboard Shortcuts. Change "Walkthrough Desktops" to whatever you want, say Win+Tab and Win+Shift+Tab. (Gives that key something to do other than set there and look stupid) This is actually default on my Slack 10.0 install.
