Firefox cannot choose action, help

On firefox when you go into pref.-- download--edit actions mine is blank. I cannot tell it to open anything with what I want. It seems that this is a problem with mozilla but doesn't affect everyone.

I've deleted the mime file but that didn't work. The area is still blank. I've taken out the plugins one by one and that didn't work. I've deleted all the files and reinstalled at least 4 times, that didn't work either. The only ext. I have is the Dom inspector. I am running pclinuxos 0.93.

Anyone else have this problem? Is there a fix?

The field is supposed to be blank by default. An entry is (or at least should be) created the first time you try to download a certain mime-type, select an action for it, and tell it to "remember" that action. After that, you can use the field to change the application used.

Deleting the mime file simply removes all existing entries. Plugins are a separate system and disabling them doesn't affect the mime-type selection, except for deciding whether or not they open in-window. (Plugin actions should show up in the field though).

I know there was at least one extention out there that allowed you to create new entries as well as edit them, but I don't remember exactly which one it was or if it's still available. "Things They Left Out", maybe? There may be others now that can do the same thing.
