Files still appear after moved to trash~

I currently run a game server for Half-Life cstrike.

This is the problem:

I created a startup script for my server it goes like this:

#!/bin/sh
echo `date` >> startlog.txt
sleep 1
echo "now starting the server"
sleep 1
screen -A -m -d -S steam \
./hlds_run -game cstrike -autoupdate \
+exec server.cfg \
+maxplayers 20 +map de_dust

Now to start the server
cd /usr/steam/hlds_l
[root@hlds_l]#./start-cstrike.sh~

It starts and runs great, but that not the problem that I'm having...

I went to my hlds_l dir and deleted the start-cstrike.sh~ script
It deleted it fine fron GUI, but when I ls in the hlds_l dir from text mode the files are still there.

Question is!
How do I remove these files when they are not present anymore???
Even though I deleted the files, I can still run the scripts...
Where did they lodge themselves???
I cant figure this out...Please help

Try to cd out of the directory - then back into the directory then run the ls cammand again.

Use the find command to localize the files - then try for instance typing mc <ENTER> (if mc is installed a program should load) then remove the files using that particular file manager....

Also - I am wondering if it might in some odd way be a permission related problem, if the above doesn't work as a regular user try the su command and re-follow the above mentioned path!
