Fast file manager

OK, I may get slapped around for this, but I have noticed that KDE file manager (konquerer?) is pretty slow compared to Windoze Explorer.

Is there a good file manager that is similar to Explorer?

By that I mean one that is faster, and supports both tree view and single window per file directory view?

If I'm not at the command line and just want to view them graphically, I tend to use xfm but most of the time I just browse from command, with the ls and cd commands..
