Question eth0 got lost again!

Ok guys, everbody has problems with linux, but I think this is too much trouble for a damn 1 piece of hardware..
It's so soon I'm gonna be a ethernet card expert.
well, here's the problem, I was sending e-mails using sendmail. And it was working ok when I left it at night. The next day I noticed that the connection was lost. I restarted the machine and tried couple of commands like;
modprobe tulip well, it gave me the following error and hint.
"insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters including invalid IO or IRQ paramater.."
This was an error hint.
and i went to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ and ran the ifup eth0 command ,
then it gave me the following; "Delaying eth0 initilazation"
I can't get the ethernet card to work at all..
Any ideas, solutions, everything welcome!
Thank you.

Go out and get a cheap realtek 8139 based card, most people seem to have few problems with these chips and the driver seems to get more work than most ethernet modules.

A lot of cards that use the tulip module are clones but the realtek 3139 is well supported under linux and can be fornd on a lot of cards.

Well I think that's a matter of personal opinion which network card works best. I had a card with a realtek 8139 chip on it. And it used to lock up occasionaly. Replacing it with a 3Com card has ceased all those problems.
The realtek card still works fine in another machine though.
Anyways you could try placing it in a different PCI slot. I had the problem once with a network card. After trying for ages to get it to work I finally plugged it into another slot and it worked almost instantly.

Thats a good point Mik. I've got two realtek 8139 cards one from Acer and the other from SMC, the SMC refuses to work on my system but the Acer one works like a charm....go figure....
