How do i recover the files for which linux is showing "Error splicing file: Input/output error" when i trying to copy them?
My sister's laptop fell down after which its windows won't properly load. I ran linux mint live usb on it, tried creating backup of files. While copying some documents present on c:\ (windows partition), it gave error:

Files from another partition on the drive copied fine. Destination drive is fine. The laptop is producing sounds so seeming to me that the internal drive has developed some bad sectors, specifically on the c:\ windows partition. I've no prior experience of dealing with bad sectors. I read about "fsck" but not sure how to use it here. Also i read

Its probably just a bad block. It can't read the data, is all. After remapping the block the drive is likely good for another three years.

I don't know how to do this. If i do this then will it be applicable on windows?
