Engineering work on the project

Hi all! Would you choose to work on a project with a compensation based on results (extra bonus for achievements and reduced base for failed project)? Taking in account that individual commitment and results will be measured?

Why? What's the context for this and what are you trying to accomplish with this very vague, open-ended question??

You mean, would I accept the risk of an ownership stake without actually having one?

The problems for me are
  • There are several types of engineering - mechanical, electrical, electronic, chemical, etc.
  • Results based = My rewards are based on your judgement or whim.

Forget the value of your brilliant idea. If the idea is valuable, and the design is as good, you'll still have to ram it down people's throats to get anywhere. If it's electronic hardware, forget it anyhow unless it's a totally new concept. By the time you design/develop it, two products with your feature set or better will be on the shelves.

Project management is done in stages, with a key deliverable at the end of each stage, like the courses on a menu. As the deliverables are delivered, the money flows. Provision must also be made case some deliverable is rejected.

Lastly, I'd say don't do this on a forum, as it affects patent possibilities. Go private with an NDA & sell the idea to prospective partners who have skills or expertise that you want. If your idea is as good as you seem to think, get a manager in early and don't leave the lunatics to run the asylum.
