email from BASH

Hello people.
Any ideas as to how to send email from the shell? I hear one can use the mail or mailx commands - and if so, do I need to have an MTA running on the system?

you can also try mutt or mh on your system
about the MTA I can't answer that as I never really thought bout that

if you want to use mail you
th syntax is

mail -s 'subject'  receiver <ENTER> Your text you wanna send

the mail ends with a single dot (.) on the last line
after this my version asks for CC which you can simply leave blank and finished.
