Exclamation E17 0.17.3 crashes in PCLinuxOS 2013.

Hi,

I recently installed PCLinuxOS 2013 LXDE edition, then followed the directions on the PCLinuxOS forums to install E17 (refresh repos, install updates, then install task-enlightenment, which pulls in all needed dependencies.).

I could boot into E17 fine, and it works fine, but sometimes a white box with black text pops up informing me that Enlightenment SEGV'd,
with 2 options; Recover and Logout. Clicking Recover restarts E17 and everything goes back to normal

I haven't installed any third party modules. The crashing usually happens when opening the "More Applications" pane in the applications menu. It doesn't always crash, but it usually happens when I have just logged in, or when a new user opens the applications menu for the first time. It also crashes when I install a new application in Synaptic, then try to open the applications menu.

Here is extra info in case it helps:
Hardware: Running in VMWare Fusion with 2 cores, 4GB RAM and 3D acceleration enabled.

I realize this probably not an answer you're looking for, but I've run Enlightenment on pclinux for several years and that error is something I've grown accustomed to. I usually got in during the installation phase of system upgrades very rarely any other time. Since the update of Enlightenment to 17.3 I installed Lxde edition and had similar issues, I then did a reinstall with the 2013 minime edition and installed enlightenment and haven't seen that error dialog since.

I don't know what caused the error in enlightenment but can definately say I haven't had it happen once on the minime base.

What modules have you installed?

Many of the modules in the repos were created for the older 16.9 version are considered unstable and not recommended for use on the new Enlightenment, as examples Engage an Tclock. Usually when you install those modules you will get a warning from the system that the modules are considered unstable and may cause system instability.

You may still choose to run the older modules just remember as an example that while say Engage looks much better than Ibar, Engage was intended for E16.9 and is no longer in development while Ibar is its official replacement for E17+.

These are the modules I have active:
Clock
Deskshow

Pager
Shot
Systray
Tasks

There are more listed but I have them disabled.

I also managed to get a crash dump: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...ash%20dump.txt

Looking at your crash dump I see your running the new 64 version, that version is a new release and may have bugs yet to work out, they haven't even ported over half the software in their repos to that version yet.
Sorry I can't be of much help here, hopefully an update will fix your issue.
I'm running E17 on the 32 version without that issue so it may be an issue with the 64 libs.
