Dual booting Ubuntu 10.04 and Solaris 10

Hey guys, I've done some research on doing a dual boot with ubuntu 10.04 and solaris 10. But it seems like grub2 is making it harder.. I installed Solaris first, then ubuntu and installed the bootloader from the ubuntu cd. Then when I start I don't see a grub menu, or anything like that. So how would I get Solaris to start? And still be able to use ubuntu. Solaris is on (hd0,1) ubuntu is on (hd0,6) or something, how could I figure that out to make sure? Thanks!

hi

I have never tried solaris but if you installed solaris and installed its bootloader in the Partition boot record....it should be possible to use it by chainloading from your grub2 menu.

Pretending h0,1 = first partition on first drive = Solaris

then add to your /etc/grub.d/40_custom (using root powers)

menuentry "Solaris" {
set root=(hd0,1)
chainloader +1
}

I am assuming your ubuntu still boots ok.

Nevermind, got it working. Look at this: http://erickoo.wordpress.com/2009/06...-karmic-koala/

And do what it says but replace the OS name and partions.
