Disk Quota Problem in Red Hat 9.0

Hello everyone,

I want to apply user quotas in Red Hat 9.0. When I apply the command (quotacheck -avug) then the message is displayed * Can't find filesystem to check of filesystem not mounted with quota option *. I have already remount the partition on which i want to apply quotas.

What is the real problem.

Thanx in anticipation

u have not mounted the file system with quota support.
to do this open fstab and add "usrquota, grpquota" after the key word defaults.

here is an example
/dev/hde1 /home ext3 defaults,usrquota 1 1

this mounts my home dir with user support if u want group support add grpquota.

Make sure that you have the usrquota and/or grpquota option in the /etc/fstab file for the partition.

/dev/hda2 /storage ext3 defaults,usrquota,grpquota 0 0

Create the <user/auser>.<quota/.group> files, remount your filesystem and run quotacheck again. That should work.
