Disabling usblp

When I try to enable the USB port for my printer in VMWare, I get a message saying that usblp is being used by the host. It isn't - at least as far as I know. I use another printer (with a serial connection) for printing in linux. Is there any way to disable usblp to free it up for my VMWare guest system?

I'm using RH9.

Thanks,
Phil
