Desktop shortcut & look

I have created a script file called 'MapXP' that contains the appropriate mount command to connect to my Windows XP box from my RH9 box. (Actually, I have a few of these script files for various mappings.)

1) How can I set them to autorun after reboot noting that they require root access to properly run?

2) How can I create a desktop shortcut to run each of these files? I tried creating a launcher pointing to the script files but it doesn't seem to do anything when I click on it. I'm guessing this isn't working because it has something to do with root access requirement & a prompt for password during the mapping.

Additionally, I seem to have installed Ximian some time ago by mistake and would like to return to the KDE/Gnome original desktop layout. How can I do this?

Thanks!
