Desktop

Hey just wondering If anybody could help...I messed up my desktop during installation, I believe I chose the wrong resolution/ color range(24 true color). After the installation I couldn't start my desktop even though my initab is set to 5 and it just boots into a console prompt. Running startx does not work either. Can somebody tell me what files to edit to fix my resolution. It also might be that I didn't use the default vesa drivers (BTW what is vesa drivers.) I have a nvidia Geforce2GO 32 MB vid card and I really don't want to use the B.S vesa driver. Well first off how would I be able to change these setting... I was poking around /etc/x11 dir but, I'm just pretty lost...lol Thanks.

type 'xfree86config' go through the steps using the default drivers, to get to a useable desktop, then download and install the lates nvidia drivers (will work better than an default kernel ones).

Or emacs if you prefer.

Use a comman line editor.

I know what I did wrong during the installation it assigned my video card with a vesa driver(what that is i dunno). So I switched to a Geforce3 card on the linux video card installation but, I actually have a geforce2 ddr 32mb....I have checked the the /etc/x11/XF86Config file but, I'm not sure where or how to configure it...sounds tough...I also downloaded the lastest nvidia drivers and installed it also...no success yet...so how would I change the video card...XF86Config has a video card entry but, I seems so non-technical..i'm lost I could just reinstall but, just wanted to know this for future reference. Mucho Thanks.
