Deleted /dev/mouse & /dev/psaux

forgive me! I am new at this.

Trying to get my touchpad tapping disabled on my laptop. The tpconfig program said there was a problem with /dev/psaux and I knew that I used /dev/mouse. So I went in to the /dev/ directory and deleted /dev/psaux and re-created it as a symbolic link to /dev/mouse. In my digression, /dev/mouse was a symlink to /dev/psaux. So I screwed both of them up.

I tried to use the MAKEDEV script that is in the /dev directory but it says that it doesn't know how to make "mouse" or "psaux".

What should I do?

tia

Try "MAKEDEV generic" and/or "MAKEDEV busmice", Do "man MAKEDEV" for all the options.
